Bargarh is
unique for its myriad of festivities including famous Dhanu Yatra of Bargarh,
Sitalsasthi of Barpali, Car Festival of Bhatli, Baisakhi festival of
Nrusinghanatha, Sravanmela of Ambabana, Baliyatra of Khuntapali, Jugar Yatra of
kuchipali Bindhyabasini Yatra of Sankirda, Ranjita Yatra of Attabira, Ravan
Podi of Sohela etc. Among all the festivals Bargarh is famous for Dhanu Yatra,
which has drawn and brought international attraction and reputation. It is
because Dhanu Yatra is the world’s largest and open-air pendal where is
displayed a folk drama depicted from the famous epic of Mahabharata. The
celebration of the festival has a long history that can be traced in the last
part of 18th century, But after India independence it is being
celebrated as a monument on a more modernized form. |
